Slenderness Ratio Effect on the Eccentric Compression Performance of Chamfered Laminated Bamboo Lumber Columns

Eccentric compression tests on 15 chamfered laminated bamboo lumber (LBL) columns with a height ranging from 600 to 3000 mm were conducted in order study the eccentric mechanical performance. The failure of all specimens was caused by crack fiber tensile region. When ultimate strength reached, except mm, other could bear large deformation, showing good ductility. lateral displacements under approximately parabolic direction column height. bending moment LBL different slenderness ratios same initial eccentricity fixed value. relationship between capacity, axial displacement, and ratio analyzed based test results. It found that plane section assumption be used express stress strain distribution compression. A method for calculating bearing capacity proposed using constitutive model Ramberg-Osgood relation empirical formula given basis former research as well results this paper.
